Feeling Overwhelmed?

I am about to drop a truth bomb on ya.

Ready?

Overwhelm isn’t a real thing.

I remember when my mentor shared that for the first time. The quote is that overwhelm isn’t a real thing. You are either unprepared or not committed.

Say, what?????

Yep. Overwhelm isn’t real.

So, let me break this down for you.

If you are unprepared, a few reasons to consider may be that you don’t know what to do? Or, you haven’t given yourself enough time to execute, which is leaving you feeling overwhelmed?

Or if you are not committed, you may tell yourself you are not sure of your next steps or you may keep procrastinating on taking action as a result.

The antidote to overwhelm?

Take action to get prepared and make a decision to be committed.

The action doesn’t have to be big. It can just be the next best step. A tiny step, actually. You just have to be committed to doing it.

So, let’s say that you want to finally be consistent in your marketing effort. What can you do to stop being overwhelmed by the process?

Perhaps you need to create an editorial calendar or implement a scheduling tool. Or, hire someone to help you get your social media posts out there. Maybe you need to carve out an hour a week to work on content creation.

Or perhaps your days are so jammed packed you haven’t the time to work on launching your coaching business. Well, the first step you may want to take is to assess your to-do list, create some boundaries with your time and set-up a schedule that keeps you focused instead of running in 80 directions.

A tiny step could look like writing down all of your to-dos, then assessing what is really important, deciding what can come off the list and then what tasks you may need to delegate to someone else.

So, anytime you are in overwhelm, ask yourself “What is the next simple step that I can take?”.

Do that and watch your overwhelm start to dissipate. You’ll start to build confidence and self-trust (ie. integrity with yourself) that you can be a problem solver and get stuff done! Which means you are no longer sitting in the victim mode of being overwhelmed and not taking action!

Cheers to taking action one tiny step at a time!
